The Ardoisières Park

After the operation...

This site is the result of a process that could unfortunately be described as unusual: man, after having exploited a site, after having dug it up, upset it, turned it over, then redeveloped it into a natural area of nearly 100 ha, of great beauty! Not bad, isn't it?

The Parc des Ardoisières, as its name suggests, is indeed a former site for the exploitation of the famous blue slate of Angevine. It has been completely redeveloped, and its former use can still be guessed a little near the water spots whose azure colour contrasts with the schist environment.

Numerous paths allow you to discover little by little extremely diverse landscapes, marked by the omnipresence of slate in different forms, and maintained thanks to rigorous ecological management.

Of course, you can also complete your day with a visit to a museum that you won't be surprised to find there: the Slate Museum!
