It is so beautiful, multiple, full of history, superbly preserved, that to want to describe it in a few lines is a challenge.
So, for once, we will simply present you with some "good reasons" to come and visit, admire, this extraordinary abbey, and perhaps, to have lunch or sleep there.
And these "good reasons" are simply taken from the abbey's own site. Quotations are in quotation marks.
"Here the stones provoke emotion", and, indeed, "in this unique place of history, an abbey that is not for nothing described as royal" where you will discover "the lies of Aliènor d'Aquitaine and his son Richard Lionheart".
"Far from everything, on a vast 13 hectare site, the royal abbey exudes calm and serenity".
