The small town of Valognes is in Normandy. So, the Museum it houses is dedicated to cider. Makes sense!
Valognes
Valognes is a very friendly little town, in the heart of the Cotentin peninsula. I really like the description given by one of its mayors: "a small town that is simply nice, delicately friendly, discreetly seductive". All said and done... welcome!
The cider museum
It presents the richest French collection devoted to cider, along 12 rooms of a building that itself constitutes a very beautiful example of medieval architecture. This is the so-called "grand quartier" house, the last part of a 15th century complex
The objective of this cider museum is of course to go from picking apples to eating cider, and to do so, to present a whole representative set of objects and tools.
You will find very impressive, monumental oak presses, the traditional "crushing tower", apple crushers of different models, and you will learn what "godiâos", "marquis" are... among others!
You can also admire a series of very rare old posters designed to promote cider, of course.
Sequence "white square"....
Discreetly, I also show you a small "naughty" sequence, with a bed carved in a cider barrel, this bed "Croque la Pomme" being carved with naive erotic motifs evoking, obviously, the famous temptation... !
