Grand-Bourgtheroulde, the luminous museum of Berger lamps

It has been a long time since Berger lamps became part of our heritage... in fact, 120 years ago in 2018. And it is to mark this anniversary that the Maison Berger has decided to open a museum in the very place where the company is located.

Cleanse and remove cigar smells

It is well known that it was a pharmacy assistant, Maurice Berger, who searched for an object capable of purifying by catalysis the atmosphere in the rooms of that time, whose hygiene was still very uncertain, and also of chasing away the heavy odours of cigars, which the gentlemen of the beautiful society smoked like fireplaces, in the living rooms ! It must also be said that, at the time, we were not talking about the 10 € cigarette pack!

He therefore created this small fragrance diffuser object which, while retaining its utilitarian function, will gradually become a decorative object, then even an art object.

The "saga" of the Berger lamps is evoked in two video episodes, part 1, thenpart 2.

300 models

The Conservatory of the Maison Berger has about 3000 models of these lamps, and, among them, 150 have been selected to appear in this exceptional museum.

It is therefore a collection of rare pieces that can be admired, signed by artists or the greatest French manufacturers, all presented in a soft musical atmosphere, and a subtle play of chiaroscuro to highlight each lamp.

A multi-sensory journey

This very exceptional tour also retraces the historical journey of the 120 years of the company's history.

But the visitor is also invited to exercise his olfactory sense, using a perfume organ with which he is asked to identify some perfumes among the countless references proposed, but also among the raw materials used!
