A small, quiet commune...
Lohéac is a nice little rural commune in Brittany, which boasts a rich enough architectural and landscape heritage to earn it the label "commune du patrimoine rural de Bretagne" (rural heritage commune of Brittany).
In this environment, it is therefore quite unusual to discover, at the exit of the town, one of the most beautiful museums in Europe dedicated to the automobile...
A Breton mansion...
About thirty years ago, there was only a Breton manor, a farm with cows, pigs, chickens, as it should be!
And it was a man from Lorraine who bought it, to collect the cars he had been collecting since he was 18 years old, and which are scattered all over the place.
A museum of 15,000 m²!
The 17th century manor house has evolved a lot, and it has now become one of the most important museums dedicated to the automobile and its history, on 15,000 m².
Now, about 400 vehicles are displayed, many of them in period settings animated by a hundred mannequins and surrounded by thousands of objects!
Take a walk in the past...
If you want to take a rest from the vehicles, you can always go to the '30s guinguette, or to about twenty shops reconstituted as they were... a long time ago!
... and go to the flea market
If you can choose the first weekend of October as the date to visit this museum... that's not bad! Indeed, it is the weekend of the auto flea market, during which 400 exhibitors offer their automotive treasures. And there are even demonstrations on the circuit, an exchange exchange, in short... the party!
