Serrant : the backstage of the castle

Unusual visit behind the scenes of the castle

This is the first castle on the Loire River to go upstream from Nantes. A beautiful Franco-Irish story on a Renaissance architecture background. Famous guests: Louis XIV, Napoleon, the Queen Mother of England...

This castle "to go back in time", still inhabited, can be visited.
But, in addition to a "classic" visit, it offers an unusual visit, that of the backstage of the castle.
This very special tour allows you to discover the "backstage", corridors and rooms never opened: boiler room, bakery, butcher's shop, attic, and mezzanine.

Some rooms, which have not changed in 100 years, allow you to see, for example, the daily life of servants in 1900, the comfort installations of the Belle Époque, the German occupation of the last war. Many stairs to be expected!

A more classical visit...

The more classical visit will allow you to discover the large living room with its multiple works of art, the "monumental" kitchens with their 200 coppers, the Louis XIII and Louis XIV furniture of the anteroom, the Louis XV apartments, the library with its 12,000 volumes, and the extraordinary ebony cabinet, a masterpiece of cabinet making, with its precious marquetry and its secret drawers, which the castle has kept for more than 300 years!
