Mathieu Perraud, fisherman from the Loire, storyteller, walkman and walkman, cook...

Fisherman of the Loire

In his family, for 10 generations, they have been Loire fishermen! That's how well he knows his Loire, Mathieu Perraud!

In the past, we lived only on local resources, but today, from supermarkets to supermarkets, we buy... anywhere! So, of course, Loire fish are less in demand!

The representative of the 10th generation therefore decided to diversify, while keeping his soul and know-how.

A cabanée toue, "Vent d'Soulair"

A toue is a typical Loire boat, with a flat bottom and a bevelled nose that allows you to land on any strike. It is called a "cabin" when it carries a cabin! In the past, fishermen were well protected by their cabin and could spend the night there.

Mathieu Perraud has designed his own so that he can transport walkers by offering them the best possible view, while protecting them from a sudden shower!

A stroll reading and sunset on the Loire...

Du Bellay, of course, Julien Gracq, Hervé Bazin... read on the Loire, on a peaceful evening, what a sweet happiness! The reader is the head of the Parchemin library in Saint Florent le Vieil.

Another sunset, another walk.... to music!

Having always lived here, there are childhood friends! These two form the local duo Poivre et Sable, for an evening stroll during which they share traditional French songs.

A walk for the brave... at dawn!

Now, the departure is definitely six in the morning! But you will have a great experience, discovering traditional fishing in the Loire and setting nets.

Enjoy yourself, too...

Mathieu Perraud is very active, and very imaginative, with the walks he offers since, in addition to those mentioned above, he also offers "coffee and croissant", "departure for Reunion Island" (with Marmite Kréol de Saint Florent le Vieil), "aperitif evening", or a shuttle to the Ancenis market....

But let's not forget either that he is a fisherman! When you say fisherman, you mean fish! And, as a result, it offers prepared dishes, such as carp rillettes with mustard, catfish rillettes, smoked mullet rillettes, bream soup, lamprey matelote... you can ask him for information, or go to the "Envie de Saveur" community grocery store (purchase possible online, also on the grocery store's website, with pickup in store).
