The devil is in the holy water font

A Breton man was struggling to bring back, with great difficulty, a bell that he intended for the Juch church. It should be noted that this Breton was a saint. As a result, we can think that he had easier access than anyone else to the divine hierarchy, of course. And in this hierarchy, on the burning side, there is the devil, it is well known.

Our brave Breton saint had so many difficulties with his bell that he made a "deal", as we would say today, with the devil! If he would help her, he would promise to have his statue in the church, which is not done anywhere else, of course.

So when the parishioners finally heard the bell ring, they also discovered a statue of the devil in their church!

It is a 17th century statue showing Saint Michael who, normally, killed a dragon, but who, in this case, had his foot on a demon!

Knowing that it can always be useful to be well seen by the authorities, the sailors of Tréboul, Douarnenez, and Pouldavid regularly visited this devil, and offered him their old chews and cigarette butts!

You can still see this very unusual statue in the church. You will also notice, on the right as you enter, a stained glass window representing Clovis in armour, an extremely rare iconography in a church.
