KiKaBu the Vendée Kiki? KiLaBu remembers it! The Kiki, an unusual and improbable aperitif!
Created in a garage...
Since Steve Jobs created Apple in his garage, it seems that this type of space brings good luck, and many entrepreneurs decide to try their luck (their luck, of course!). And the creators of the Kiki, that's what they did, following an aperitif invitation, around 2015!
Wine from Vendée, and Black Thorn... from Vendée!
The Vendeen likes to make its own homemade aperitif, and there are as many authentic, and more or less unusual recipes as there are Vendeans! Basically, the principle is to macerate wild Black Thorn shoots (blackthorn) with brandy, sugar, and Vendée wine.
The maceration process makes it possible to extract the aromas of the young shoots of the blackthorn, to finally obtain a taste of cherry stones and bitter almonds.
And the real Kiki is made with real wine from the Vendée region, and served in a real Kiki, the nickname of a small 9-centilitre Duralex glass! That's right! That's right!
And that's how the Mercier group, with its own wine and that of three other Vendée estates, produces more than 100,000 bottles... in moderation!
