Rennes (35) : Ecomuseum of the country of Rennes
Permanent exhibition as presented on the site of the ecomuseum:
From everyday life to the great agricultural transformations in Brittany, from rural architecture to the history of a large farm in Rennes, the Ecomuseum traces the lives of the men who have left their mark on the history of the region of Rennes.
The richness of its museum is based on an original scientific approach: starting from the precise history of a large farm in Rennes to tell the main lines of the country's history in a diversified presentation. Tools, costumes and furniture are combined with models, audiovisuals and scenographies.
The visit is free and everyone crosses at their own pace five centuries of our history on more than 1,200 square meters of permanent exhibition:
- From Rennes to the land of Rennes: a presentation of the land of Rennes and its demographic and sociological evolution.
- The story of the Bintinais or Ceux d'ici: an audiovisual show evoking the life and relationships of the owners, farmers and servants who lived in the Bintinais for five centuries.
- Living in the country of Rennes: a space evoking the cultural differences between rural and urban areas: interior decoration, costumes, cuisine, language, level of education, leisure, city-country exchanges.
- Architecture and environment: evocation of the architecture and environment of farm buildings. The Bintinais illustrates various techniques: earthen construction, work of the mason, carpenter and roofer.
- The fruits of the land: the dominant productions of the Bintinais make it possible to trace production techniques and the organisation of the farm from the number of agricultural workers to farming practices. The main technical revolutions are presented: from sickle to scythe, from van to tarare or from horse to tractor.
But the museum is also a living conservatory of ancient animal and plant breeds, some of which are threatened with extinction.

The cultural association of the Maison du Patrimoine en Brocéliande was founded in 1982 in Montfort-sur-Meu.
At present, the association is a centre of resources and heritage interpretations which, with the participation of the population, carries out the functions of research, preservation and enhancement of the natural and cultural properties representative of the country and of the ways of life that follow one another.
