In Candes Saint-Martin an urban museum... without a town!
Whether you take it in English (Street Art without Street), or in French, the (unusual!) result is the same: an artistic and cultural project in the park of the Château de Môh offers the public the juxtaposition of contemporary art and plants in a heritage site: the marriage of art and nature, heritage and contemporary creation.
In other words, you will not wander through the corridors with varnished parquet floors of a museum, but in the alleys of a 4.5 hectare park with terraces stretching from the banks of the Loire to the château !
A coherent environment
This Museum of Urban Art has "neighbours" with whom it forms a completely coherent whole, since it is the Museum of Contemporary Art of Montsoreau, and the Abbey of Montsoreau, which in 2020 inaugurated a Museum of Modern Art, these three places opening a path where art and heritage meet.
You may need to spend several days on site to follow this route, and you can always find top-class accommodation at the château!
An evolving museum
The Museum of Urban Art at the Château de Môh has another unusual feature compared to a classic museum: it doesn't last. After a 2019 season, and after restoration of the works damaged by the winter, the 2020 season has opened up to many new artists. And so, from fine season to fine season, the "Street Art Parc" will evolve and renew itself as nature evolves and renews itself.
