The Automobile Museum...
Before the first world war, a gentleman had the intuition of the importance that the "horseless" cars were going to take! He studied them to learn how to repair them. The Guignard garage was born in 1910.
In 1949, his two sons took over. Over the years, the family began to maintain and preserve the first elements of what was to become a superb collection, a testimony to the evolution of the automobile!
In 1981, the first museum was opened in the former horse-gear arena (logical!) of the Valençay castle, before moving later to the 1600 m² of its current location.
The ancestors and the legendary...
With all their brass, their running boards, and their spoked wheels, the ancestors have been welcoming you since the end of the nineteenth century, some still proudly displaying marks that have disappeared today...
A little further, here are the cars of legends which marked the twentieth century... here is the 4 CV Renault in which, a long time ago, my grandfather took me to fishing, here is the 2 CV, here is the Dauphine, here is the Traction Avant of the liberation...
This Automobile Museum also presents some very rare vehicles, such as, for example, the Delaunay-Belleville HH6 of 1908 which took part in the battle of the Marne.
... in their original environment...
This incredible collection of about sixty old vehicles, even very old ones, is presented in its period environment, with the corresponding posters on the walls, the evolution of clothing with the mannequins which evolve between the cars, the newspaper articles, the photos of the historical rallies whose names make one dream, the Red Cruise, Monte-Carlo, Paris-Barcelona...
