Romantic and secret

Just to situate...

A little history, just to situate... this history, we can say that it goes back to 1170, when all the same... and that it was tumultuous and tormented!
Well enclosed within its walls, well defended by its wide and deep moat, still partly visible today, the castle was between the English, on the right bank of the Loire, and the French, on the left bank, on the Berry side. It also found itself between the Catholics and the Protestants.
And then, with the return of peace, it became little by little a residence of pleasure, abandoning the gatehouse and the drawbridge, while the windows opened on the gardens...

A park so romantic...

If "unusual" means "off the beaten track", and "creates emotion", then the qualifier is perfectly suited to the romantic park of the castle, classified as a Remarkable Garden.
It is the successor to a French-style park of which two elements can still be found, an alley of three hundred year old boxwoods and the stone banks that once drew the small canal-shaped river.
The park does not use herbicides, fungicides or pesticides, and follows the rules of organic gardening. It does not have a traditional lawn, which requires fertilizers and selective weed killers, but natural meadows. And, since 2008, many trees, botanically or aesthetically interesting, and identified by a slate, have been planted.
A labyrinth of over 900 hornbeam trees was created in 2009.
Add to this ensemble, crossed by a pretty little river, a flowering vegetable garden, an orchard, and a superb collection of irises, and all that remains is for you to gently enjoy the passing of time, treading the dense grass of the meadows, and spending a very romantic moment on one of the many benches that dot the park, before going to join, if you so wish, the Château's Farm to spend a peaceful and comfortable night there!
