Château Naillac and the Ecomuseum of the Brenne
The two are inseparable, since the first one shelters the second one, but also, and especially, because the two are the history and the life of the Brenne.
For 800 years, the first one dominates the Creuse, defends the place with its two keeps, and, more peacefully, offers an exceptional view! From its past, you will admire, among other things, a lordly room where one can imagine the lord and his lady, next to the superb Romanesque chimney, surrounded by damsels, listening to the troubadours...
The second, since 1986, was created around the museum of birds, with, at the beginning, an ornithological collection of 800 birds! And then, little by little, the place was enriched, with the exhibition "Terre et Feu", with archaeological elements, headdresses, objects related to the ponds and fishing, exhibitions to discover and understand the nature and the men of this region.
Both, finally, are essential to feel the Brenne, and discover intimately "Men, a country, a history", title of the permanent exhibition which is presented.
To extend your visit, you can also visit the Maison des Amis du Blanc about which I wrote a small article... it's 200 meters away!
