A little Cointreau?
The history of Cointreau is a family history, which began in 1849. We are in the middle of the industrial revolution, growth, development, discoveries, diversifications...
That year, Adolphe Cointreau, a confectioner in Angers, also decided to diversify the family business by turning to the production of liqueurs, and more specifically Guignolet, a fruit alcohol well known in the region.
A few years later, after many experiments, it was Edouard Cointreau who finally produced a crystalline liqueur, very concentrated in taste and flavor, and much less sweet than the common liqueurs of the time: Cointreau.
A distillery, a museum, and many activities and workshops...
The Cointreau square is located in the heart of the distillery, the unique place where this famous liqueur is made, and you will also find a museum.
You can sign up for special tours, such as "from zest to shaker", "Edouard's workshop", or Masterclasses. And then, like those men in bow ties who, behind the bar, knew how to twirl the shaker to create subtle wonders, you will learn the art of the cocktail. You will find more than 200 recipes on the Cointreau website, including the world famous Margarita.
